Albert Formaggio

February 4, 1939 — May 19, 2024

Maynard, Massachusetts

Albert Formaggio, 85, of Maynard, passed away in Concord on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was the loving and devoted husband of Pietra (Battista) Formaggio.

He was born in San Cono, Catania, Italy, on February 4, 1939, the son of the late Giuseppe Formaggio and Francesca Volpe.

Albert moved to the United States in the late 1950s, settling in Pennsylvania and then New York. He joined the United States Army in 1962 and traveled all over the world during his service.

Albert worked for many years in various trades, including as a machinist, welder, Steinway piano builder, and skilled tailor. He enjoyed gardening and was proud of his bumper crop of tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, and taddi. He was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed rooting for Roma. But his happiest times were with his close circle of family and friends, to whom he was exceedingly devoted.

Along with his wife Pietra, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Joe and Jaymi, his grandchildren Coby and Joshua, and his sister and brother-in-law Josie and James Castiglione.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Albert during visiting hours on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap Street, Concord, MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 28, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, 89 Arlington St., Acton. Burial with U.S. Army Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY.
