Albert Joseph LeBlanc

Albert Joseph LeBlanc, former longtime resident of Gardner and Ashburnham MA, died on May 8 in Bedford MA, where he had been a resident of the Veterans' Administration Long Term Care facility since January. He was 97.

Albert was born in St. Marie, N.B. Canada, on March 22, 1919, the son of Laurent and Marie LeBlanc. He moved to Gardner with his family at the age of six. In 1941, he married Irene Veronneau, who died in 1981. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the African and Italian campaigns. After his return from the war in 1945, he joined Nichols and Stone Company, where he worked for over 40 years.

Albert and Irene leave four children: Winona Moeller of Winchester MA, Pamela Sogard of Menlo Park CA, Lawrence LeBlanc of Ashburnham MA, and Cosette Dunn of Concord MA. They also leave nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

After his wife's death, Albert remarried to Corinne LeBlanc Carr. The couple lived in Oceanside CA, where they were active in the Oceanside Senior Center. In 2010, they moved to Concord MA, where they were active in the Council on Aging and enjoyed swimming at the Beede Center.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Denis church in Ashburnham MA, on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00am. A graveside service with a military honor guard will follow in the family lot in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery where Albert will be buried beside Irene for his final rest.
