Alexandrina "Reena" (MacGuinness) Irwin age 90 of Concord formerly of Carlisle passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Warren H. Irwin who died in 2006.
Born in Devonport England on January 13, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Richard A. and Isabella M. (Garden) MacGuinness.
She arrived in Boston on the SS Scythia on September 28, 1925. She was raised in Carlisle by her Uncle Jack and Aunt Kate after the death of her parents. She attended Carlisle schools and later graduated from Emerson High School in Concord. After high school she attended secretarial school and went onto work in Boston at S.K.F Co., , Middlesex Insurance and Sentry Insurance both in Concord.
She married Warren in September of 1950 and settled in Concord where they raised their two sons, Richard and Robert. After retirement, she spent much of her time working along side her husband and other Shriners at the annual Aleppo Shrine Circus.
An avid Red Sox fan, still to this day keeping her 1946 World Series ticket stub, she also enjoyed spending time in her gardens, and at her second home on Lake Winnisquam in NH. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren swim, water ski, and play baseball/softball.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Irwin and his wife Maryanne of Bedford and Robert Irwin and his wife Patricia of Carlisle. She also leaves her three grandchildren Kimberley Cave and her husband Gregory and Jessica Irwin and her fiance Richard Maggio both of Tewksbury, David Irwin and his wife Mandy of Deerfield and two great-grandsons Jacob and Samuel Cave.
