Alice "Citty" Foley

July 30, 1920 — May 16, 2011

Alice A.(Frauenheim) “Citty” Foley age 90 of Concord formerly of Armonk NY, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday May 16, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Frank M. Foley, Sr.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 30, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Corrigan) Frauenheim. Citty was raised and educated in Sarasota, Florida with her 3 siblings. She attended the Outdoor School, Sarasota High School finishing with Marymount College in Tarrytown N.Y.

Citty and Frank married and raised their children in Armonk with summers in S. Wellfleet, Ma. She grew up an avid swimmer which continued into her adulthood. She loved the cold water on the Cape, swimming daily into the fall season.

Citty was recognized for her extraordinary commitment to public service. She was the Founding President of the Green Acres Garden Club in Armonk, President of the Junior League of Northern Westchester NY, Board Member of the Visiting Nurses Association of Hudson Valley, NY, and Board Member of the North Castle Historical Society. In 1986 she received the Gloria Gaines Memorial Award, the highest honor of the Marymount College Alumnae Association.

In 1996 she moved to Concord to be closer to her children and grandchildren. While in Concord, Citty was active with The Circle of Friends at the Holy Family Parish looking forward every year to decorating the Spring Luncheon tables with floral arrangements. Citty was also a member of the Milldames.

Citty is survived by her children, Frank and his wife Joan, Toni and husband Bill Sawyer, Susan Foley Larson, Michael and wife Laura, Marie Foley and her husband Richard Buckles: grandchildren Catherine, Amanda, Alexandra, Spencer, Charlotte, Melita, Sarah, David, Anna, Ty, Nick and Thomas: and 10 great-grandchildren.
We remember Mom as our Mom – please remember her as yours too, as your grandmother, as your friend, as your teacher. Remember her love of family, of extended family, of God and her dedication to the guiding principles of faith. But especially remember her radiant smile and her extraordinary spirit.

Her funeral mass was held on Wednesday, May 18th at Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center, Concord. Rev. Austin H. Fleming, celebrant. Family pall bearers included Spencer Foley, David Lombino, Rolf Carlson, Robert Hemingway, Thomas Foley and Sean Ruhmann.
