Alice Hurd Moulton, an artist and photographer who continued to create and exhibit her award-winning work into her 90's, died July 20 in Concord. She was 91.
With her late husband Francis "Pat", she devoted her life to her family and community and together with Pat led the Patriots Day Parade in 1991 as "'Concord's Honored Citizen."
Her unfailing humor and blitheful spirit made her a beloved companion to all who knew her.
Her watercolors of the rocks, beaches and water of Maine were infused with her light heart and deep connection to New England.
She was the co-author of Concord, a photographic history of her hometown to which she contributed numerous portraits of long-time residents and iconic scenes of Concord.
She and Pat loved to travel to "hot and dusty countries" where she captured evocative images on her omnipresent camera.
She was an avid and prolific reader, devouring novels and the daily news alike, thus becoming a strong judge of character both in literature and in her daily life.
She was the heart of the family for Eben and his wife Heather, David and his wife Frances dePeyster, and Lisa and her husband Michael Allen, and adored by her grandchildren Ian, Emily, Molly, Jesse and Ryan. She also leaves her sister Sylvia McDonald of Littleton, CO.
She will join her husband and pre-deceased daughter Jenny in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. She also was pre-deceased by her brother, Judge George N. Hurd.
