Ann Gibbs Cox (Gibbi) of Metuchen, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, MA with her loving family by her side. She worked for many years as a graphic artist in both Knoxville, Tennessee and in the library system in New Jersey. Her art work was respected and admired by all who worked with her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading books, playing the piano and was a supporter of the arts.
Born in 1934 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Gibbs and Anna (Powers) Lyons. She attended Low Heywood School in Stamford, Connecticut, Barnard College in New York and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
She is survived by her loving son Jay Newlon and his wife Lynn Rothstein, daughter Katherine Newlon Briante and husband Christopher and son Jim Cox and wife Erin; three grandchildren Ali and Max Newlon and Bennett Briante.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Gibbi on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 17 Oak Avenue, Metuchen, New Jersey.
