Anne (Buffington) Cole of Lincoln, MA died peacefully at home on May 27,2018 at the age of 94.
She was a transplant from the Midwest where she spent her youth outside Chicago riding horses and getting herself and her siblings into mischief. She attended The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania and Graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1946. She volunteered at the Cambridge Home for aged women in the 1960s, worked one summer for the Peace Corp and at Pregnancy Counseling Service in Boston in the 1970s. In the late 1980s she tried her hand at Calculus and computer programming at Wellesley College after she became a grandmother. She enlisted the help of both her husband and son to earn a respectable grade in both endeavors.
Anne lived in Lincoln for the better part of half a century enjoying the rural landscape at first on horseback and then on foot. She was an avid and fierce bridge player. She was never afraid to speak her mind.
Anne is predeceased by her husband, Addison D. Cole and her brother George Nicholas Buffington. She leaves her sister, Drucilla Buffington of Arlington, MA. She leaves her children, Sarah Cox of Halifax, Nova Scotia; Mandy Young of Concord, MA; and Ford Rackemann, also of Concord; and a grandson, Alex Young of Lincoln.
A life celebration service will be held in the summer.
