Boyi Ho, 95, died peacefully on November 6, 2020, following a rich and illustrious life.
She is survived by her husband, Kequn Li, of Athens, Ohio; daughter, Yunsheng Li (Xiaozhuo Chen) of Athens; and sons, Chin Li (Yanhui Liu), of Murray Hill, New Jersey, and Jian Li (Lijun Liu), of Beijing; sister Shukun Ho, of Hefei, China; brother S.K. Ho of Carlisle, Massachusetts; grandchildren Athena, Sophia, Michael, and Stephanie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Liben Ho and Guizhi Liu, and her sister, Boshan Ho.
Born in Hangzhou on December 28, 1924, China, as a child Boyi and her family moved frequently avoiding bombs in a wartorn country during WWII. Attending high school in Kunming, a province in southern China, she met her future husband, a math college student. They liked to go swimming in the local river together and married in 1952.
After graduating from Tongji Medical University, 同济大学 in 1948, she worked first in Shanghai and then Beijing at Peking University First Hospital, 北大医院, for 33 years as a respected obstetrician-gynecologist and later as a professor. She has published many research articles in medical journals and is a contributing author to the Encyclopedia of China, 1st edition. After retirement, she continued to act as a knowledgeable resource to women and their families wherever she lived. After immigrating to the US, she initially lived in Carlisle, Massachusetts, in 1985. Later she moved to Athens, Ohio, in the early nineties. Community-minded as ever, she became an active member of the Athens Bible Church. She and her husband still swam regularly together in their seventies and took international trips with family in their eighties. She will be missed.
Funeral services will be held at Concord Funeral Home in Concord, Massachusetts, on Saturday November 14, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Green Cemetery, Carlisle, Massachusetts
