Carolyn Wrathall Getz

October 22, 1922 — February 20, 2017

Carolyn (Connie) Getz, age 94, died peacefully after a brief illness and surrounded by family on February 20, 2017 in Concord, MA.

Carolyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Getz of Phippsburg ME and her daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Ernest Steward of Littleton MA. She leaves seven grandchildren, Kristine (Hikel), Geoffrey and Kathrene (Getz), Ann (McGuire), Matthew, Jonathan and Gregory (Steward) and nine great-grandchildren; Nelson, Marissa and Cole Hikel, Grayson, Ella and Sawyer Getz, Benjamin and Samuel Getz, and Brynn McGuire. She also leaves her sister, Shirley Brownell and family. Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carl W. Getz and special companion, Thomas Patterson.

Connie was born on October 22, 1922 in Jamestown, NY to Lillian and Bruce Wrathall. She graduated from Fredonia State Teachers College in 1944 with a degree in elementary education. She accepted a teaching position in the Concord Public Schools where she remained until her retirement in 1981. She was a dedicated and well-loved teacher to many.

Connie was involved in numerous activities over the course of her life. She was an active member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, the Square Wheelers of Acton, a Scout leader, bridge club member and a supporter of the Concord Band and the Nashua Symphony. She had a passion for travel and was fortunate to have seen most of the USA as well as many countries throughout Europe and Asia.

Her family and friends will always remember her warm and generous spirit and especially her devotion to the New England Patriots. She was a true sports fan and watched every second of this past Super Bowl. Most of all she loved her grand/great grandchildren. Each one was precious to her and fulfilled her dreams of our family legacy being carried on. While she will be missed terribly, we are grateful for a life well-lived and her instilling in us her desire that we always love one another.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm St., Concord on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
Interment will be private.

Gifts in her memory may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm Street, Concord, MA. 01742
