Cecelia F. (McCarthy) Santa, age 83 of Lincoln, formerly of Waltham, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. She was the wife of the late Martin M. Santa.

Born on March 24, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Lillian (Murray) McCarthy. Raised and educated in Cambridge she graduated from high school and later attended and graduated from Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. During her working career she was employed by Dow Chemical and MIT.

Mrs. Santa married in Cambridge in 1949 and then settled in Waltham and later Lincoln where she and her husband raised their six children.

She was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Lincoln, serving as a Eucharistic minister and member of the choir for many years. She was an avid photographer whose photos were often selected for entry into the Concord Art Exhibit or could be found in the early morning hours photographing at Great Meadow. Music, poetry, reading and writing were loves of hers. She was frequently found as the sun came up donned with her signature hat and cane enjoying the company of friends at Starbucks in Concord or enjoying a delicious scone at Concord Tea Cakes.

She is survived by her adoring children, Michael Santa and his wife Gayle of Candia, NH, Denise Moore and her husband Curtis of Milford, CT, Patricia Lombardo and her husband Tom of Waltham, John Santa and his best friend Mari of Lincoln, Teresa Charbonneau and her husband David of Dracut and Elizabeth Pomeroy and her husband Keith of Hopkinton. She was also the sister of John McCarthy of Arlington and the late Eileen McCarthy and Geraldine Cottle. Also survived by her grandchildren Rebecca and Andrea Santa, Ashley Heaney, Alex Moore, Mark and Katelyn Lombardo, Kerry, Matthew and Anna Charbonneau, Nicholas and Christopher Pomeroy and John’s stepdaughters, Deanna, Jazz and Rae. She was also the great-grandmother to Logan Santa.
