Chandler Gifford Jr., 93, of Concord, Mass. died peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 21, 2015.
He was the son of Chandler Gifford and Mary Nash Gifford and was born in Cambridge, Mass on May 31, 1922.
Chandler was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Barbara in August of 2014.
He graduated from Belmont Hill School and Trinity College and served in Europe in the U.S. Army during WWII as a forward observer.
He had tremendous respect for the preservation of land and wildlife and was a member of the Manomet Center for Life Sciences, The Concord Land
Conservation Trust and the Trustees of Reservations.
Much pleasure was had tending to his property in Concord since the early 1950's, cross-country skiing, walks in the local woods of Concord and sailing the waters of Maine and Duxbury, Mass. where he and his family spent summers.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Watson, of Bainbridge Island, WA. Family members are Peter L. Gifford and his wife, Holly, of Concord, Benjaman O. Gifford of Penobscot, ME and his son, Samuel S. Gifford, of Concord, grandchildren Hilary Watson of Burlington, VT and Alexander Watson of Honolulu, Hawaii and their father, Peter T. Watson of Bainbridge Island WA.
Services will be private.
