Chester Francis Sadlow age 97 and long-time resident of Concord passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Care One in Concord. He was the husband of the late Eleanor Margaret (Buckle) Sadlow who died in 2018 after being married for 70 years.
Chet was born in Adams, Massachusetts on November 29, 1924, he proudly served in the United States Army during WWII as a medic and upon his return settled in Concord with Eleanor where they raised their three children. Chet worked as a sheet metal worker for many years and his ability to repair and build almost anything was admired by many. He also enjoyed many happy and peaceful years at their home in Wells, Vermont. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and restoring old cars. Chet enjoyed entertaining friends, family and loved cooking out on the wood fireplace for everyone. The grandchildren especially loved the tractor ride.
He is survived by his children, Chester J. Sadlow and his wife Marcia of Concord and Kimberly Brandt and her husband William of Bedford, NH; his grandchildren, Jessica Slayton Pitts, and husband Travis, Michelle Norris and her partner Vincent “Vinnie” Sadler, Erica Operach and her husband Douglas as well as his great-grandchildren, Nathan and Julia Operach, Brody Slayton, Brynn Slayton and his son-in-law Alan Peterson of Maynard, and his many friends at Care One Concord. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Sadlow Peterson, his siblings Rudy Barlick, Stanley Gancarz, Warren “Sonny” Payne, Jackie Payne, Constance O’Neil and Madeline Belmont.
Services at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Concord will be private.
