Daniel E. Farmer age 83 of Concord passed away on Thursday morning, August 18, 2011 at Emerson Hospital. He was the son of the late Daniel E. Sr. and Eunice (Osgood) Farmer. At the Thoreau Elementary School he enjoyed helping the teachers with the second and third grade students. Dan also assisted the inmates at the Concord Reformatory to improve their education. In addition, Dan volunteered his time at the front desk at the Bedford VA Center, greeting all who entered and directing them to their destinations.

For many years he had a garden at the Community Garden in West Concord where he grew multiple types of vegetables. He especially enjoyed eating the tomatoes and canned what he couldn't eat. He also was involved with the Concord Council on Aging attending most of the activities sponsored. His pride and joy was setting up and overseeing the COA library
