David N. Reece

October 6, 1920 — August 14, 2008

Mr. David N. Reece, age 87 of Newport, RI, formerly of Concord, MA, died on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 in Newport. He was the husband of Barbara (Hastings) Reece and the late Annie (Clark) Reece.

Born in Cleveland, OH, on October 6, 1920, he was the son of the late Christian and Marian (Trout) Nusbaum. Mr. Reece attended Case Western Reserve College, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA from Harvard Business School.

A longtime resident of Concord, MA, Mr. Reece was a founding member of the Concord Consulting Group. He co-founded a management consulting firm, Billings & Reece, which was located on Main Street in Concord. He was active in many town committees and organizations, including the town planning board and the Concord Museum.

He was on the Board of Directors of several businesses, including Chairman of the Board of the Benthos Corporation of Falmouth, MA.

David enjoyed volunteering for many organizations, including the Concord Prison Outreach Program, the Boston City Mission, and the Trinitarian Congressional Church.

David was a proud member of the Concord Rotary Club for 27 years, where he once served a term as president.

David was a Navy Veteran of WW II, where he served as a flight deck officer aboard the USS Cowpens in the Pacific

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden St., Concord, and on Tuesday, August 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Rd., Middletown, RI. Interment was private in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
