Dorothea E. Minden

October 18, 1928 — July 30, 2011

Dorothea E. (Reiffel) Minden October 18, 1928-July 30, 2011.

Dot grew up during the Depression and World War II in New York City, attending the prestigious Music and Art High School and graduating from Hofstra College in Long Island where she majored in math. Dot met her husband, Henry (Hank), a newly minted PhD physicist, while both were working in Princeton, New Jersey. After their marriage, the couple lived in Chicago, Long Island, and Syracuse, NY, before settling in Concord, MA, in 1962.

While raising three children with Hank in their modest home, Dot returned to work, naturally gravitating to finance. From a part-time bank teller position she rose to loan officer, branch manager, and Vice President of BayBank Boston, now Bank of America. After retiring, Dot served for many years on the Town of Concord Finance Committee and was active in the Concord Women's Club.

Dot's creativity, quick mind, and nimble fingers brought her hours of quiet pleasure mastering fine crafts - from pastry making to jewelry design to coat remodeling. These hobbies, along with reading, crossword puzzles, and bridge, complemented her main passions: sewing and knitting beautiful clothing and accessories of flawless quality for herself, her family, friends, and neighbors.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Henry T. Minden of Concord, MA; her children Cathy Minden of Towson, MD, Vicky Minden of Newton, MA, and Steve and Kathi Minden of Mountain View, CA; and her grandchildren, Henry P. Minden of San Francisco, CA, and Sonia Minden of Baltimore, MD.
