Earl L. Anderson

Anderson, Earl L., a resident of Carlton Willard, Bedford, MA, formerly of Queens, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at age 84. He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce l. (Weiner) Anderson.

He was born in University City, MO on June 23, 1923, the son of the late Squire Henderson and Zetta V. (Scott) Anderson.�Mr. Anderson attended Sumner High, in St. Louis, MO and then Brooklyn College in NY, earning a BA in Elementary Ed. and History. He later attended and was graduated from Queens College in NY with a MA in Elementary Ed. He was a veteran of the Air Force from 1943-46, where he was trained as a radio operator & mechanic.

On September 1, 1951 he married Joyce L. Weiner of Brooklyn, NY, whom he met at Brooklyn College, and they settled together raising their family.

Earl was employed by the U.S.�Post Office for several years before working for the NYC Board of Education as an elementary school teacher. He was a longtime member of the UU Church of the Northshore/Shelter Rock, Long Island, NY, where he taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir, and he was also an active member of the First Parish UU in Bedford, MA. He lived life to the fullest and had numerous hobbies, including listening to opera, playing guitar and singing, caring for animals, and reading.�He especially enjoyed attending baseball games, gardening, swimming, the theatre, spending time with his family, and visiting Madison, CT in the summer.�After retiring from teaching he devoted countless hours volunteering in a local hospital in Queens and helping those in need of support and guidance.

He is survived by his loving children, Mark E. Anderson, MD and his wife Janet of Newton, MA, Wendy L. Petersen and her husband Robert of Acton, MA, and Scott C. Anderson and his wife Julie of Adventura, FL. He was also the very proud grandfather of Brooke and Paige Petersen and Danielle Anderson. He is also survived by many caring nieces, nephews, good friends, and acquaintances that cared for him. Earl was the last living member of his immediate family, which included 8 brothers and sisters: Ernest, Ardth, Marie, Evelyn, Elaine, Charles, and Jane.
