Edith F. (Rebello) Gilman

Edith Frances (Rebello) Gilman, 94, wife of the late Albert E. Gilman, Jr. died peacefully on April 25, 2016, surrounded by her family. Edith was a long-time resident of Lexington, Massachusetts.

Born in 1922, Edith was the daughter of Marianna (Costa) and Joseph Rebello. She was raised in Winthrop, MA. She met and married her cherished husband, Gil, while being employed as a lab technician at the Army/Navy Hospital. Together they raised 5 children. Those that had the privilege of knowing Edith remember her as a most wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and friend. Edith led her life with the foremost purpose of caring for her family and large extended group of friends. Her home was one of the most busy, active households in the neighborhood and always with an open door to all. She was an avid cook, classic movie buff and reader. She closely followed politics and loved to engage in conversation regarding upcoming elections.

Edith is survived by Albert E. Gilman, III and his wife, Pamela of Glastonbury, CT, Paul Gilman of Lexington, MA, Stephen Gilman and his wife, Donna of Milford, MA, Peter Gilman and his wife, Amy of Chelmsford, MA and by 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was also mother of her late daughter, Marianne (Gilman) Lloyd Reidy.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Edith's funeral mass on Saturday, May 14th at 10:00 am in St. Brigid Church, 2001 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA followed by interment at Westview Cemetery, Lexington, MA.
