Eleonora (Deuning) Wetzel, age 92, of Concord, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late James G. Wetzel.

Eleonora was born on January 28, 1934, in Surakarta, Indonesia, to the late August and Francine (Gayral) Deuning.

Eleonora and James were married in the Dutch East Indies and moved to the Netherlands in 1955. In 1959, they immigrated to the United States, where they soon settled in Concord, Massachusetts, and made it their home for more than six decades.

Eleonora was a devoted wife and mother who selflessly cared for her family and took great joy in the many years they shared together. She was a loving and supportive presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. In addition to caring for her family, Eleonora worked for many years as a laboratory technician.

A longtime member of Trinitarian Congregational Church, Eleonora was actively involved in the church and generously volunteered her time at numerous church and local community events. She and James also enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States in their RV, creating wonderful memories and experiencing the beauty and diversity of the country. She particularly enjoyed gardening, cooking and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Eleonora will be lovingly remembered by her son, Paul G. Wetzel, and his wife, Mary Beth; her daughter, Maaike E. Wetzel; her grandchildren, Chrystal Cleaves-Sanderson, Carolyn Cleaves, Christina Wetzel Giardini, and Kaitlyn Wetzel; and her great-grandchildren, Kana’i-Kai Sanderson and Mia Giardini. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James.

Services and burial at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery were private.
