Elizabeth V. "Liz" McAllister age 79 of Concord died peacefully on Oct. 15 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center. She was the wife of the late John McAllister who died in 1971, and the daughter of the late William and Grace (Markham) Vanderbilt.
Liz was born in Hartford, CT and educated at the Oxford School and Pine Manor College. A former board member of the Junior League of Boston, she served the Concord community in various capacities. She was Executive Director of the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest for thirteen years, a board member of Widening Horizons, the American Red Cross, a member of the Town of Concord 350th Anniversary Committee and a Corporator of Emerson Hospital.
For many years she was a trustee and treasurer of the Concord–Carlisle Scholarship Fund. She was active in the Concord Museum, a member of the Vestry of Trinity Church and President of the Garden Club of Concord. Most recently, she lived happily at Newbury Court in a community with her friends.
She leaves two sisters, Margaret V. Shepard of Hartford and Beverley V. Dobbin of FL, her step-daughter Holly McAllister Swett of NY, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
