Elizabeth Warren Price, a loving soul who gave of herself freely to many worthy causes, passed away peacefully at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA on October 1st. She was the daughter of Charles Garnett Warren and Myrtle Ellen Modrall, and wife of Lyttleton Price Jr., whom she survived by exactly 50 years. Born in 1921 in Mountain Home, Idaho, she lived in several parts of the country before settling in Orleans, where she lived until last fall when she moved to Concord Park nursing home in Concord, MA.
Elizabeth called Cape Cod her home for the last fifty years. She raised her two sons on her own after her husband died six months after retiring to Orleans. For twenty years she worked for the Association for the Preservation of Cape Cod, and volunteered her home for its headquarters when the office burned down. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes, and she spent many happy hours tending her gardens; in the winter her passion turned to weaving, playing bridge, and displaying her collection of nearly one thousand Santas. Elizabeth had many friends and belonged to so many different groups she was busy most nights of the week, including Friday morning Bible group, Book Club, the Chatham Chorale, the Federated Church choir, and the Orleans Conservation Commission to name a few.
At her advanced age she survived many of her friends and relatives, including all of her siblings, but made many new friends in the younger generations. She loved a good party, whether it was socializing over a glass of wine or bowl of ice cream. In her last years she was assisted by several compassionate caregivers who all appreciated her quick wit and endless love of life.
She is survived by her sons, Tad Price of Orleans and Charles Price of Concord, along with their spouses Ruth and Chris and her four grandchildren.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held at the Federated Church in Orleans at 2:00 on Saturday, November 26th."
