Ernest M. Steward

August 6, 1921 — February 5, 2009

Ernest M. Steward age 87 of Plainville, formerly of Concord passed away on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Jeanette (Blais) Steward and the late Vera (Davidson) Steward.

Born in Brookline on August 6, 1921 he was the son of the late Ernest J. and Mary Ellen (Moore) Steward.

Raised and educated in Somerville Mr. Steward graduated from Somerville High School in 1939 and later attended and graduated from Burdett College in Boston in June 1941.

Mr. Steward enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Upon his return home in 1946 he continued his working career at M&M Transportation in Somerville until 1977. He then worked for Holmes Transportation in Framingham until is retirement in 1987.

Mr. Steward moved to Concord in 1953 and during this time he was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord. He also enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and working on home projects. In 2004 he sold his home in Concord and moved to Plainville.

Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, Ernest R. Steward of Littleton and Robert E. Steward of Franklin, 2 step-sons, George Blais of TX and William Blais of Attleboro. 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Jean Steward Steinberg and brother of Frederic C. R. Steward and the late Harry E. Steward.
