Frances Story Nyquist

March 31, 1923 — December 23, 2020

Frances Story Nyquist age 97 of Vero Beach, FL formerly of Concord and Westford passed away peacefully in her sleep just before Christmas on Thursday, December 23, 2020, she suffered no distress or discomfort. Frances was the wife of the late Richard P. Nyquist and mother of the late R. Peter Nyquist, Jr.

She was able to remain in her own home, with the help of wonderful overnight and visiting nurses and caregivers, until the last few days of her life. This is very rare for anyone fast approaching their ninety-eighth birthday and contributed to her quality of life and enduring good spirits. The restrictions imposed under the spread of the COVID-19 would have been horrible and heart-breaking had she been in a care home, where she would have been unable to receive visitors. One memory of this time which I will treasure, is the pleasure afforded by the Metropolitan Opera's daily streaming of a different production from their archive of live broadcasts at the height of the lock-down. Those who are aware of her career as a soprano, will not be surprised at her delight or that she remembered certain roles and sang along. The music section of her bookshelves includes libretti which enabled us to follow along, rekindling memories for her and providing an education for me.

To her friends, to my friends who were fortunate to have known her as well as those who may have noticed that I have all but vanished for the last few years, I would like to express my sincere thanks for your support for us both.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Lisa Nyquist of London, England.

A private graveside service was held on the family burial plot at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
