Fred William Harris

Fred W. Harris Jr, age 70 of Concord, MA formerly of Lecompte, LA passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on Saturday May 21, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Sandra (McDermitt) Harris.

Fred was born in Lecompte, LA on June 14, 1945. He was the son of the late Fred W. Harris Sr. and Hattie (Brady) Harris. Fred graduated from Lecompte High School then attended college at LSUA. He enlisted in the US Army in 1965. On February 1, 1969 he married Sandra.

Fred was an entrepreneur in the restaurant, retail, and building trades. For the last 15 years he was the caretaker of an estate in Concord, MA. Fred cherished time with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, reading and relaxing at home. His children and especially his grandchildren brought him joy and happiness.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sandra and their children Fred W. Harris III ( Trey) and wife Kate of Weston, MA and Amy Lynn Harris and Shane Gray of Athol, MA. His grandchildren Holly Eva Kelly Harris and Fred W. Harris IV (Quade) and his grand-dogs Maggie and Mo. He is also survived by his nephew Ronald Harris, his nieces Diane Harris, Dee (Davis) Orfanos, Lisa (Davis) Cole and many great nieces and nephews.

The Harris family would like to thank family and friends as well as our Mass General family of physicians and nurses for all the care, love and support.

June 1, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Concord Funeral Home, Belknap and Thoreau Streets Concord, MA.
