Jane Langton of Lincoln, MA, died peacefully on December 22, 2018, in hospice care in Lincoln. She was 95 years old.
Born in Belmont MA, Jane grew up in Wilmington, DE, where her father worked as a geologist for DuPont. She received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Art History from The University of Michigan, and a second Master's in Art History from Radcliffe. Jane was a prolific author, who was awarded the Mystery Writer's of America "Grand Master Award" for her "Homer Kelly" series of mystery stories. She was also the beloved author of the "Hall Family" series of young adult fantasy stories, including "The Diamond in the Window," and "The Fledgling," which was a Newbery Honor book. Jane's husband William Langton, a physicist, passed away in 1997.
She is survived by three children Christopher, William, and Andrew, two grandchildren, Gabriel and Colin Langton, and three great-grandchildren, Holden, Zia, and Emery Langton.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Jane's life on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm in The First Parish in Lincoln, 14 Bedford Rd., Lincoln.
