Jean Ann (LeGendre) Crear

April 18, 1938 — September 15, 2017

Jean A. Crear of Yarmouth, ME, formerly of Stow, MA passed away on September 15, 2017 at home with her family by her side. Jean was married to her loving husband, Richard (Dick) Crear, for 38 years. They met during a Parents Without Partners group. Together they enjoyed wonderful times outdoors, whether it was camping, walking the beach or working in their yard. Jean loved to laugh and her smile was radiant.

Jean was born in Waterville, ME, the daughter of Roland LeGendre and Irene (Madore) LeGendre. Her early years helped formulate her beliefs in the value of hard work and a positive attitude. She attended Mt. Merici High School where she developed her calling to become a nurse. In 1959, she graduated from Portland Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Her new career brought her to Massachusetts; she began a family, and eventually settled in Stow. While raising her children and working full time, Jean returned to school and received her BS in nursing at age 59. Her final position, caring for her patients in their homes as a VNA nurse was the most rewarding,

Jean loved to fill her Saturday mornings shopping at "her favorite store", yard sales. She enjoyed hunting for a bargain and found beauty in the smallest of treasures. Her family was the cornerstone of her world. She was most happy when the holiday season came and her home was filled with music, food, family and friends. Jean was a woman of great inner strength and perseverance, which she always displayed gracefully with a sense of humor.

Jean battled her Alzheimer's disease with all she could muster. Her smile, gentility, and sweetness never left.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; her siblings Donna Carpenter and Sylvia Gauthier; her children Lianne M. Hunt, Tracy M. Olson, Michelle M. Filippone, and Robert W. Mulcahy III; her stepson Richard A. Crear Jr.; her eight grandchildren Brittany, Henry, Danielle, Elizabeth, Patrick, Maggie, Maxwell, and Lila; and great-grandchild, Max. Her brother Ronald A. LeGendre and her grandchild Amanda precede her in death.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday September 22, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Church of St. Isidore, 429 Great Road in Stow, MA. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Stow. A celebration of her life will continue at 1:00p.m. at Shelburne Farm, 106 West Acton Road in Stow, MA,
