Jean Hupper Slade, age 97 of Concord, June 27, 2023. A beloved mother and grandmother, Jean grew up in Melrose, MA. After graduation from High School, she was a secretary at MIT where she met her husband, Milton who was an electrical engineering student.
After raising four daughters, Jean returned to secretarial work for Concord’s Public Works Department, and finally as Administrative Assistant for the guidance department at Minuteman High School in Lexington. Jean and Milton were married for nearly 62 years when he passed on in 2013. They were original owners of a home in Concord’s mid-century development of Conantum and lived there for 60 years, after which they moved to Newbury Court in Concord where Jean lived until 2017.
Subsequently, she was well cared for at other nearby facilities where her daughters could visit. Jean and Milton were active members of the Christian Science Church in Concord, serving on various supporting committees.
They were longtime subscribers to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Jean was a member of the Concord Chorus for many years. Always busy with sewing, knitting and needlepoint, she made beautiful creations, and many of her talents were taken up by her daughters.
She leaves her daughters, Deborah Slade Pierce and husband Jeff of Concord, Martha Shepherd of Blue Hill, ME, Gretchen Schlier and husband David of Westminster, and Elizabeth Slade and husband John Payne of Longmont, CO.
