Jerry Alan Goldlust, age 83, of Concord, MA passed away peacefully on the morning of October 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 1, 1941 to the late Max and Wanda (Chaney) Goldlust. Raised in a modest home with limited financial means in Euclid, OH, his childhood and teenage years consisted of working as a golf caddy, serving as a merchant mariner, and performing magic shows with his younger brother, Keith. Jerry’s love of magic continued throughout his lifespan, frequently amazing friends and strangers alike with his tricks. This, in addition to his many jokes, were the ways in which he connected most to others.
Jerry’s intellect was one of his most impressive qualities. After graduating from Euclid High School, he went on to attend Cornell University where he received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. Within the first few years of his professional career, he served as a member of the faculty at the State University of New York, Farmingdale, where he contributed to scholarly publications. After a few years in New York, Jerry relocated to Boston, MA. He worked briefly at Boston Insulated Wire before deciding to leave the company to start his own.
Jerry began his proprietorship by renting a single desk in the back corner of a manufacturing facility. He slowly built up the business, which became known as Dielectric Sciences, Inc. Now in its 54th year of business with 40 employees, Dielectric Sciences, Inc. designs and manufactures cables for use in a diverse range of applications, including medical diagnostics, university, and government-funded research projects, as well as projects for the Navy, Air Force, and NASA. Dielectric Sciences has contributed to and made possible some of the most technologically advanced high voltage applications in the world. As an inventor, Jerry contributed to many patents. His work was his passion, and he never considered retirement. Though the company was eventually sold to HEICO Corp., Jerry continued to work as President of DSI up until the week of his death.
Jerry’s work is also where he met and fell in love with his former spouse, the late Cheryl Roderick. Jerry and Cheryl settled in Concord, MA and had two children, Andreana and Benjamin. For a period of time, they fostered children in need of homes with loving families. Jerry shared a passion for art with his daughter, Andreana, and the two of them would often frequent Monet exhibits together. Jerry was also an avid sailor and his passion for sailing was swiftly passed on to his son, Ben, who he began teaching at a young age. Over many years, the two of them sailed competitively on their sailboat, Cherokee, based out of Newport, RI. Jerry felt the most at peace sailing the waters by his beloved vacation home in Gloucester, MA.Jerry is survived by his brother: Keith Gollust, of New York NY, daughter: Andreana Goldlust, of Rockport MA, his son and daughter-in-law: Benjamin Goldlust and Morgan McGoey, of Dunstable, MA, close family, Michelle and Bella Prue, of Wilton Manors FL, and many dear cousins, nephews/nieces, and friends.
