Joan C. (Thornton) Baldridge, age 79 of Concord passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2013. She was the wife of Robert Baldridge.
Joan was a graduate of East Providence High School in 1950, and Lincoln School of Providence in 1951. In 1955, she earned her B.A. At Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA.
She married her high school sweetheart in 1956, and after spending time in Cambridge, MA, Brooklyn, NY and Westport, CT, they settled in Concord, MA with their three children in 1970.
Joan was very creative, and had a strong interest in interior design, which took her back to school to Mt. Ida College in Newton, MA. There she met her friends Helen Hays and Sheila Coppellotti and together they founded Ventures Interior Design out of Concord. She was also a long time volunteer at Emerson Hospital's gift shop.
She loved traveling, going to the beach, reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family, all with her beloved dog Roo at her side. Joan was a somewhat willing companion for Bob on their scuba, hiking and kayaking excursions! She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.
Joan leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Bob Baldridge, her son Robert Reed Baldridge of Somerville, her daughter Lynn Cochrane Baldridge and husband James Saeger of Arlington MA, and her daughter Amanda Baldridge McDonough and her husband Timothy McDonough of Bedford, NH. She was the beloved Grandmother of Susanne Saeger, and Samuel, Ian and Benjamin McDonough.
A Memorial Service is planned for April 20th at 11:00a.m. in the Trinitarian-Congregational Church, 54 Walden St., Concord. Interment will be private.
