Joanne (Edwardsen) Loynd age 68 and life long Concord resident passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at her residence. She was the loving wife of Francis “Rod” Loynd for nearly 50 years.
Born on November 21, 1941 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Andrew, Sr. and Lucille (Kennedy) Edwardsen
Raised and educated in Concord she completed her courses of study at Concord High School in 1959, and was awarded the Business Medal upon graduation. A short time later, she married and started a family. Her husband had his own building and remodeling business and she took over the position of office manager and worked with him until 1981. In 1983, she began working for Robertson & Gray, Inc. d/b/a Concord Car Wash, Concord Auto Body, Concord Auto Body Wrecker Service and Ugly Duckling Rent-A-Car. When this business went into retirement, she began working for Parametric Technology Corporation in Waltham and Needham as a manager for Technical Support Administration until she retired in 2006.
Mrs. Loynd enjoyed being active in the family’s activities and became involved in scouting and attending many of the sports activities the children were involved in and entertaining their large family and friends. She was a communicant at Our Lady Help of Christians Church and Holy Family Parish for over 50 years and took courses in Christian Doctrine at Aquinis Jr. College so that she could teach Middle School aged children their Christian Doctrine. Joanne and her husband Rod were active with the Our Lady’s Couples group, helping to organize dance parties for the couples in the parish. The Town activities she participated in included the Function in the Junction held in the 1970’s. Most recently as a member of the West Concord Task Force, the Friends of Warner’s Pond Stewardship, the West Concord Green Thumbs and was also a proud member of the Lawsbrook Road Ladies Club. In 1960, the Loynd’s purchased land and built a cottage in Kirby, Vermont where the family has spent time traveling and enjoying areas of Vermont since those early years.
Besides her husband she was the proud mother of Lesley E. (Lee) LeClair of Littleton, Francis R. Loynd, III, Paul A. Loynd and Michael D. Loynd, all of Concord. Sister of Ronald J. Edwardsen of Maynard, and the late Theodore A. Edwardsen, Jr. of Acton and Cotuit, and Lucretia Monsen, formerly of Concord, Jefferson, ME and Stow. She was also the sister-in-law to Gertrude DeRuzzo and Richard & Paula Loynd of Concord, and Jeanne Sumner of Waltham. Grandchildren include Kasey L. Bingham, Ryan J. and Jennifer A. Leclair, all of Littleton, Ryan Kerr, of Seattle, WA. and Kelly Anne Rehm of Brookfield, MA. She leaves many nieces & nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
