Karen M. Liessner Lamoreaux

February 12, 1963 — March 9, 2022

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Karen M. (Liessner) Lamoreaux, loving wife of Paul Lamoreaux, passed away at the age of 59, after a brief illness.

Karen was born on February 12, 1963 in Manhasset, NY to Martha Janet and Walter Liessner. Karen and Paul both grew up on Bellows Hill Road in Carlisle. They were married at St Irene's Parish on August 15th, 1999 and moved down the road from their childhood homes to live for the next 22 years. She was a caregiver at several area nursing homes, and also took care of neighbors' children and pets.

Karen had a big heart and an incredibly generous spirit. She cared for the elderly with love and respect as if they were her own grandparents. Children were particularly special to her, and she was The Babysitter for the entire block for years. She loved all animals – dogs, cats, birds, as well as wildlife. Her neighbors could rely on her to take care of their pets, and they became her extended family.

Being outside amongst the woods and animals was where she felt most at home. She enjoyed sharing that love with her family by going on walks whenever there was a chance. Karen would take her nephews frog hunting, go on strolls with her beloved dogs Foxy, Maggie and Teddy, and go hiking in Estabrook Woods, which was particularly special to her. Tending to her garden and indoor plants brought her much joy. She also never turned down the chance to swim in the ocean no matter the temperature.

She had a goofy sense of humor that made everyone laugh and feel at ease. She loved SPAM, hotdogs, and silly birthday parties. A particularly memorable birthday celebration was when she and family went mini golfing in a neon, Halloween-y, 80's soundtrack venue where in between putting glow-in-the-dark golf balls, she danced to her heart's content making everyone have such a wonderful time. A big kid at heart, she would be first in line to go down the waterslide at family reunions.

Holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas were highlights of the year for her. From decorating her home as well as her animals, she went all out. She dressed her dogs in outrageous costumes for Halloween, and she loved lining her driveway with candle lanterns on Christmas Eve to show the magic of the night. Singing Christmas carols, loudly, was a must.

She was a Carlisle Minuteman for many years and proud to march with a musket in the April 19th parades with her father.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, Walter Liessner, and her godmother and aunt, Eileen McCullough. She is survived by her husband Paul Lamoreaux, her mother Martha Janet Liessner, and her siblings, Alinda Zawierucha and husband Marek, Chris Liessner and wife Pattie, Patty Kalil and husband Andre, Cindy Maher and husband Dennis, Greg Liessner and wife Elina; nephews and nieces Janusz Zawierucha, Thomas,Vanessa and Julianna Kalil, Christi Maher, Sarah Petrick and Daniel Harrison, and several extended family members including aunts and cousins. She will be greatly missed!!!
