Kenneth A. MacRae

April 13, 1927 — January 31, 2008

Kenneth A. MacRae,a long time Beacon Hill real estate broker, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at his Worcester residence. He was 80 years of age.

Mr. MacRae was born in 1927, the son of Arthur L. and Ida M. (Bubier) MacRae of Newton.He spent his youth in West Medford and Readville, Maine. He entered Harvard in 1945 at the age of 17, and then spent the next year with the Army of Occupation in Korea. In 1947 Mr. MacRae re-entered Harvard and received his AB degree in 1952.

Mr. MacRae's professional life was devoted to real estate, first in the management of his apartment house at 94 Beacon Street, which was also his residence, and then since 1959 as a broker with Street and Company, where he specialized in Beacon Hill and Back Bay residential property. He was also for many years an Alternate Commissioner with the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission.

Mr. MacRae was a member of The Harvard Club of Boston, Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770, The Society of Mayflower Descendants, The New England Historic Genealogical Society, and many other historical and genealogical societies. His major interests were genealogy, history, and architecture.

Although he had no immediate family Mr. MacRae is survived by his partner, Stuart A. Drake of Worcester, numerous cousins with whom he maintained a close relationship, as well as many friends and acquaintances.
