Larry G. Monroe, age 90, of Acton, died on December 1, 2022 in Ayer, following a brief illness. He was the husband of 59 years to the late Rosemary Parkins Monroe who died in 2020.
Born Westfield, PA, May 22, 1932, only child of Carl L. and Ruby Race Monroe. Raised in Elmira, NY, on his grandparents' farm in Noxen, PA. He earned an Engineering BS at Syracuse University, and after Army service from 1956-58, a MIA at Yale. He worked at Winchester Arms, Electric Boat, Raytheon, GTE, and MITRE, and enjoyed the outdoors at the Hollywood Club in the Adirondacks. An Eagle Scout, in retirement he served the Boy Scouts as District Chair.
Larry is survived by children, Jean K. Monroe of Maynard and Michael J. Monroe of Somerville; granddaughter, Nika K. Kwon; niece, Jennifer McKinnon; and nephew, Ted Parkins.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Larry for his memorial service on Saturday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am, at St. Anne's-in-the-Fields Church, 147 Concord Rd., Lincoln, MA.
