Linda Parsons Stone

Linda Parsons Stone age 66 of Concord passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Donald E. Stone.

Born in Arlington on October 26, 1947 she was the daughter of Shirley Maxwell Parsons of Concord and the late Robert A. Parsons.

Raised in Concord, Linda graduated from the Newman Prep School in Boston.

A sailing enthusiast, Linda spent many wonderful summers as a child with her family at Wingaersheek Beach and sailed frequently on small charters and sailing camps. Her forebears have a significant history of sailing and the sea.

Linda and Don bought a business in Ft. Lauderdale that manufactured a Whitehall rowing skiff, a day-sailer, and a sloop. After eight years, they decided to move back to Concord and continue their original careers. They chartered several catamarans in search of the ultimate boat and found a beautiful 37' French-built Fontaine-Pajot Antigua Maestro. After purchasing the boat in Martinique, they sailed through the Caribbean and brought the boat to Islamorada, Florida where for the next eight years, they made numerous trips to the Bahamas. In 2005 with some friends, they sailed from Islamorada to Beverly and now keep "Zephyr" at the Jubilee Yacht Club where they have been long-time members.

Linda was active and instrumental in the leadership and direction of the Charles River Sail and Power Squadron. Linda's commitment and countless hours to coordinating, energizing and providing support was appreciated and admired by all who knew and worked with her. Linda was elected twice to the following: Squadron Admin Officer and Squadron Executive Officer. She was also District Admin Officer, District Executive Officer and District Commander.

Linda also enjoyed numerous travel experiences with her husband. Her travels throughout the world were extensive and fun filled. She worked as a travel agent for many years.

Linda was an avid reader. Her family agrees that during her lifetime she read at least ten thousand books. She was a student of European royalty and could tell you the names, relatives and stories of every monarch from William the Conqueror until the present.

Her love for her family and friends were always well known and felt by all who knew her.

Along with her husband and mother she is survived by her children, Melissa Pyle of Belmont, Donald Stone of Acton and Christopher Stone of Washington, DC and her grandchildren Seraphina and Andrew Pyle and Everett and Carter Stone. She is also survived by her sister Gail Patriquin of Brookfield, NH and her niece Hillary Patriquin and nephew Christopher Patriquin.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Linda on Thursday, June 12th from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap St., Concord and again on Monday, June 23rd at 11:00 am in the Woburn Congregational Church, 322 Main St., Woburn.
