Louise M. Fackert, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Concord, Massachusetts, on March 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Her life was a shining example of grace, strength, and unwavering love.
Born in Chatham, New Jersey, Louise was the daughter of Edouard “Toot” and Charlotte Martin and the devoted sister of Ann Carlson Martin and Virginia “Ginny” Martin. Louise’s curiosity and dedication led her to graduate Summa Cum Laude from MacMurray College, a reflection of both her intellect and work ethic. In her youth, she was a nationally ranked swimmer and Olympic alternate, and carried that same athletic passion throughout her life—later excelling in tennis and eventually golf, always embracing new challenges with heart and humor.
Louise shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with the love of her life and best friend, H. Mason Fackert III, until his passing in 2023. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and purpose. They began their journey in Washington, D.C. in 1963—Louise teaching at the Cathedral School while Mason served as an Army Press Liaison with President John F. Kennedy’s White House as well as Honor Guard during JFK’s funeral. Side by side, they raised five children—Scott, Kyra, Matthew, Dana, and Jesse—along with a menagerie of beloved pets.
Louise cherished her family and took great joy in being “Grandma Lou” to Maxon, Brian, Cora, and Elizabeth. She will be remembered for the quiet strength of her love and the thoughtful spirit she shared with those around her.
Louise’s professional life was just as inspiring. She dedicated over 25 years to Baycove Human Services, where she brought compassion and wisdom to every role—from fundraising to real estate development, and ultimately as Director of Training & Education. She retired only recently, at the remarkable age of 81.
A devoted member of First Parish Church in Concord, Louise served on its Governing Board and helped preserve the church’s rich history with great care. Her faith and community were constant sources of strength and connection.
Louise will be remembered for her radiant smile, sharp intellect, generosity of spirit, boundless energy, and her deep, abiding love for both people and animals. Her presence lit up every room, and her absence leaves a space no one else can fill.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Louise’s life and spirit on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, Concord, Massachusetts. The Fackert family looks forward to welcoming all who knew and loved her.
