Louise Martin Klemmer age 96 of Concord passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Werner E. Klemmer.
She was born in Londonderry, NH on August 22, 1919, the daughter of Beatrice (McKean) and Walter Martin. She grew up in Providence, RI and graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, became a kindergarten teacher for several years. She and Werner lived in northern New Jersey for 36 years until his retirement from banking and then moved to Vero Beach, FL, Kennebunk, ME and Martha's Vineyard. In 2006 they took up residence in Newbury Court, Concord, MA.
Louise was involved in a number of volunteer groups while in New Jersey, among them Meals on Wheels, the Women's Club, Garden Club, the DAR, and the Hermitage Restoration (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) as well as teaching Sunday school and occasional kindergarten substitute teaching. She loved flowers and flower arranging, interior decorating and traveling, and in her later years took up watercoloring. Her interest in fashion and dressing well continued throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa Klemmer of Pittsburgh, PA and Lynne Klemmer of Lexington, MA, her grandchildren John Vallieres of Lower Merion, PA, Alexandra Vallieres of Boston, Tristan Husby of Nashua, NH and Larsen Husby of Minneapolis, MN and great-grandson Charlie Vallieres.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Louise on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Duval Chapel at New England Deaconess Assoc., 80 Deaconess Rd., Concord.
