Lucia B. Livingston

August 29, 1921 — April 9, 2010

Lucia Buchanan Livingston of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Concord, MA, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010. She was the wife of 58 years of the late Ralph E. Livingston who died in 2007.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Edwin P. and Marian (Bayley) Buchanan.

Mrs. Livingston attended the Ellis School in Pittsburgh and graduated from Abbot Academy, now part of Phillips Academy Andover, and graduated from Hollins College.

During WWII she was a volunteer with the Red Cross and continued volunteering for her entire life. She volunteered at the Concord Museum, Emerson Hospital, The Concord Garden Club, and most recently at Abbey Delray South Health Center. She was a 50 year Concord resident until retiring to Delray Beach, FL.

Lucia loved to entertain and is remembered for her giving nature, her wonderful smile, her true friendship, and her welcoming spirit.

Survivors include her daughter, Marnie Vanderpoel and her husband Eric of Alexandria, VA, a son, Kipp Livingston and his wife Susan of Concord, MA, four grandsons: Tripp Vanderpoel and his wife Molly of Richmond, VA, Bayley Vanderpoel of Arlington, VA, and Matthew and Thomas Livingston of Concord, as well as, a great-granddaughter, Lucia B. Vanderpoel of Richmond, VA. She also leaves her brother, Dr. Bayley Buchanan and his wife Agnes, of Pittsburgh, PA, a sister, Ellen Heberton and her husband Craig, of Chagrin Falls, OH, sister in law Joan Buchanan of Beverly Farms, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Pete Buchanan.
