Manasa Kalkunte

February 8, 1984 — May 19, 2022

Manasa Kalkunte passed away peacefully on 19th May, 2022 surrounded by her beautiful sons, Vihaan & Vareesh Mudunte, and husband, Pavan Mudunuru. Manasa was born on Feb 8th in Hyderabad, India to Dwarakanath Kalkunte (Father) and Padmapriya Kuram (Mother). She grew up in Abu Dhabi (her home-sweet home) with her brother Yogendra Kalkunte. She did her schooling at Sherwood and ADIS in Abu Dhabi while excelling in Indian classical dance and as a top athlete. She then moved to American University of Sharjah for college and subsequently moved to Boston, USA to pursue her Masters. That is where she met Pavan Mudunuru, and they had a magnificent Indian wedding (just like the ones in the movies) in 2008. Few years later they both were blessed with their sons, Vihaan (10yrs) and Vareesh (6yrs) Mudunte (yes…they combined both their last names to make a new one for the kids).

Through her life, Manasa (Minni), met numerous people and whoever met her got subsumed by her, making her an indispensable ingredient of their life. That was, is and will remain Manasa forever. She knew only one way to live life - super queen size with passion and determination. Come what may, she would reign on it like an avalanche while spreading joy and lighting up so many lives. She exemplified through her life that no matter what happens, you never stop spreading love and living your life to the fullest. She did this with unconditional love and devoid of any expectations, almost divine.

Let us shed a tear in her memory, but let's promise at the end of that tear, we hold each other's hand and remember her with a smile.

Manasa - A kite that flew high and high in a joi de vivre, while we held on to the tether. It's time to let go.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Manasa on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the Lucy Stone Chapel at Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 am and then cremation.
