February 20, 1946 — April 3, 2024

Concord, Massachusetts

“Count Me In!”

Marilyn “Mouse” Jean Worst Erickson, 78, of Saratoga Springs, NY, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at her “cozy condo east” in Concord, MA, surrounded by her loving daughters Lyndsey and Noel.

Marilyn was born on February 20, 1946, in New York City to the late Edward and Marion Worst. She grew up in the hopeful and iconic time and place that was post-war New York, in Brooklyn’s Flatbush–the perfect place and time for an optimist, a fighter, and a fun-seeker to be born. Her formative years were punctuated by summers at Breezy Point and high school at Fontbonne Hall Academy, and then Marilyn moved to Newport, RI to attend Salve Regina University. After college, she moved to Boston, became a first-grade teacher at the Donald McKay School, and earned a Master’s in Education at Salem State University. She met Bob in 1967, and they began their wild ride together. They married and lived in several towns in Massachusetts, including Marblehead, Rowley, and Wenham, where they started a family and lived for 15 years. They then moved to New York State – to Niskayuna and then to a cozy condo on the park in Saratoga Springs, which Marilyn called home for 21 years.

Marilyn would like to be remembered as a good friend, a loving mom, wife, and grandmother, a creator and joiner of all clubs, and an adventurer. She was the kind of mom who took her kids to Alaska and Disney World on a whim and who planned camping trips in a new state every summer. She was the kind of friend who organized monthly book clubs, golf outings, ski trips, and pickleball tournaments and never forgot to send a birthday or holiday card.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters Noel Powers and Lyndsey Lis; her sons-in-law Daniel Powers and David Lis; her grandchildren Molly, Bobby, James, and Samantha; nine nieces and nephews; and 24 great-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Erickson, her beloved parents, Edward and Marion Worst; her sister, Carol Morgan; her brother-in-law, Ronald Morgan; and her brother, Joseph Worst.

Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name may be made to “Team Determined” for the Jimmy Fund Marathon Walk, which Marilyn fundraised for and participated in annually from 2006 to 2023 (link: https://bit.ly/4cXHIcy).

A private celebration of life will be held for Marilyn this spring.
