Mary Ann Housel Carr passed away peacefully on May 30, 2016 at the age of 99. She was born on December 6, 1916, in Watsontown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dr. Fred and Margaret Housel and attended Sweet Briar College. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis B. Carr, to whom she was married for 56 years. They raised their family in Waltham, MA before moving to Newbury Court in Concord, MA, where she resided for the last 21 years.
She was the loving mother of Louis "Brac" Carr, Jr. (wife Sharon) of Glenview, Ill, Stephen W. Carr (wife Candy) of Concord, MA, Deborah Carr Treadwell (husband Barry) of Bethlehem, PA and Patricia Ann Carr of Concord, MA. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The Carr family spent summers in Menauhant, East Falmouth, MA. Mary Ann enjoyed the beach, the sun, a cocktail on the deck, clams on the half shell and the beautiful water view. Each grandchild can lovingly relate their own "Nana story" from these special family times on the Cape.
She lived a full life and was loved and respected by all; but, as she would be quick to observe, "99 years is enough"
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mary Ann on Thursday, June 16 from 3:00-5:00 pm in the Great Room at Newbury Court, 100 Newbury Court, Concord, MA.
A memorial service will be held in Menauhant this summer.
