Mary Elizabeth Crocker

March 25, 1916 — July 22, 2013

Mary Elizabeth Crocker, age 97 and longtime resident of Concord, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Life Care Center of Acton.

Born in Somerville on March 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Lee K. and Edna (Eaton) Crocker. She spent part of her childhood in Nova Scotia and remained very close to her many relatives from that area.

Raised and educated in Concord, she graduated from Concord High School. She worked for 21 years as both a bookkeeper and cashier for the local A&P Market where she was known and admired by many customers. She also enjoyed babysitting for many local families who still remained close to Mary many years later.

Mary was a member of the West Concord Union Church since age 15 and also participated in many other local groups and organizations. She was a past president and had been active for many years with the Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed many of their trips and events. Mary was also a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Concord.

Mary was loved by all her family and friends for her many acts of kindness and love. Her spirit and gift for conversation touched all, both young and old, who had the pleasure to be part of her life. She loved to read and was an avid sports fan, watching all of the local teams. Mary also discovered a new found talent for painting in watercolors while at Life Care Center.

She is survived by her sister Lucy J. Espie of Effingham, NH and brother George R. Crocker of Maynard, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Charles "Cliff" Crocker, Ruth Norgoal, Kenneth Crocker, Leonard Crocker, Ronald Crocker and Ralph Crocker.
