Concord, Massachusetts - Mary Alice Wilinsky nee Brown, died, peacefully, at her home in Conantum on January 22, 2024, born Akron, Ohio, 1928, graduated from the Old Trail School in Akron, 1946 and Wellesley College, 1950.
She is survived by sons, John F. Wilinsky and his wife, Cynthia L. Wilinsky of Florence, MA and Thomas B. Wilinsky, and his partner, Daniel P. Lebson of New York, granddaughters Charlotte F. Wilinsky of South Hadley, MA, and Anna G. Wilinsky, of Boston, MA, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gene J. Wilinsky, and daughter, Elizabeth B. Wilinsky, to whom she donated a kidney in 1987.
After graduating from college, Mary taught at the Fessenden School before moving to Waltham, then Concord, to raise her three children. She later taught in the Carlisle, MA public school system and at the Carroll High School. After retiring, she volunteered to teach reading at the Massachusetts Correctional Institute in Concord.
She was sustained by her love of reading and politics. She will also be remembered as an avid gardener, a founding member of the Concord Homeowners’ Commission which lobbied for low-income housing in Concord, a participant and volunteer in the League of Women Voters and METCO.
A private family service will be held graveside.
