Milton Goodwin Slade

October 4, 1927 — July 16, 2013

Milton G. Slade age 85 of Concord, July 16, 2013. An MIT graduate in Electrical Engineering, Class of 1948, he specialized in communications, radar systems and automatic test equipment, and was employed by MIT, RCA, Sanders Associates and GTE. Active in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), in 2007 he received a career excellence award for "A lifelong career in automated test and measurement and over 15 years of volunteer service to the Instrumentation and Measurement Society".

He leaves his wife of nearly 62 years Jean (Hupper) Slade. Milton and Jean were original owners of a home in Conantum and lived there for 60 years. He was an active member of the Christian Science Church, working on numerous projects to maintain the building and grounds.

He was a talented, self-taught handyman who enjoyed house construction and yard work both at home and on Long Lake in Maine. He and Jean attended Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts for many years. He leaves four daughters, Deborah Slade Pierce and husband Jeff of Arlington, Martha Shepherd and husband Jim of Stowe, VT, Gretchen Schlier and husband David of Westminster and Elizabeth Slade and husband John Payne of Longmont, CO. He also leaves four grandchildren Erica, Rebecca and Abigail Schlier and Sam Shepherd.

Services will be private.
