Nathaniel "Nat" Codding

Nathaniel "Nat" Codding, 82 of Concord, MA passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, October 21st.

Nat was born on August 8, 1936 at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA, he was the son of Constance Ely Codding (deceased) and John Wesley Codding Jr.(deceased) of Concord, MA. Nat and Karin were married December 2, 1963 in Germany

Nat graduated from Middlesex School, Concord MA in 1955 and attended Middlebury College, Middlebury VT before joining the Army where he served from July 1959 to July 1962 then was in the reserves from July 1962 to July 1965 Nat was honorably discharged and received a Good Conduct Medal and several accommodations for marksmanship

Nat was both well known and active as a lifelong legacy member of the Concord Country Club, a life member of the Musketaquid Sportsmen's Club and a long time member of the Concord Elks Club. Nat enjoyed many activities each club had to offer.


Nat is survived by his wife Karin Codding of Concord, MA. His daughters Caroline Codding Murphy and husband John Murphy of Concord, MA and Amy Hale Codding, Paul Loynd and their son Nathan Hale Loynd of Concord, MA. Daughter-in-law Celine Godard and her children Gabrielle Codding and Raphael Codding of Lubbock, TX. Cousin Elias Codding and wife Rose of Houston, TX and their children Christopher Codding and wife Laura of Los Angeles, CA, Cydney (Codding) Peters and husband Al of Houston, TX and Cecily (Codding) Altshuler and husband Howard of Flower Mound, TX., and Ruth Tonachel of Towanda, PA and Anne Eliza Tonachel and husband Bob Warhover of New York, NY.

Nat is predeceased by his son Jan Ely Codding, brothers John Wesley Codding III, Ely Hale Codding, sister Mary Jane Daniel, cousin Anne Hale Codding Tonachel and cousin George Crouch.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:45 am at the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap St., Concord and process together for Nat's graveside service at 11:00 am with United States Army Military Honors at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Bedford St., Concord.
