Newell C. Dearborn, age 81 of Stow formerly of Concord passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009. He was the husband of 60 years to Daisy (Forten) Dearborn also of Stow.
Born in Arlington on September 3, 1928 he was the son of the late Horace G. and Helen C. (Tooker) Dearborn. Raised and educated in Lexington, Mr. Dearborn married moved to Concord and together they raised their two daughters.
Newell was self-employed as a paperhanger and painter. He was well known for his attention to detail and meticulous work ethic.
He later moved to Stow where he was active in town affairs for over 30 years. Newell served on the Board of the Stow Council on Aging and was a member of the Stow Historical Society. During his retirement he worked as a custodian for the town Library, Town Hall and other town buildings where he was known and loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed repairing all kinds of items in the workshop located at Meetinghouse in Stow. Newell also enjoyed painting with water-colors and gave away many of his paintings to his family and friends who affectionately nick-named him “Grandpa-Moses”
Besides his wife he was the proud father of two daughters, Joelle Hanley and her husband Jim of Burlington and Helen Halloran and her husband David of Acton. Three granddaughters, Amy and Caroline Halloran and Susan Hanley who lovingly called him “Bubba” and a brother Murray Dearborn of WV.
