Raleigh Olaf Sahl

The life voyage of Raleigh O. Sahl ended July 27, 2016. He died at the age of 93, just 12 days shy of his 94th birthday. Mr. Sahl was born August 8, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He died at Life Care Center of Acton, Massachusetts.

He spent more than 20 years in the US Navy, with service in World War II and Korea. Sea duty included assignments aboard several vessels, including USS Texas, USS Hopewell and USS Carpenter. His favorite duty station was Oslo, Norway - where he served for three years with MAAG - the Military Assistance Advisory Group. He retired from the Navy in 1960 and pursued a career in business. He lived for more than 50 years in the Denver area before moving to Massachusetts in 2014.

Mr. Sahl was predeceased by his wife Elaine and their son Jeffrey. He is survived by RD and Linda Sahl of Concord, MA; grandson Christopher, his wife Rebecca and their sons Hank and Charlie of Stoneham, MA; grandson Taylor, his wife Sarah and their daughters Magnolia and Rae of Westbrook, CT; and his sister Kathleen Swanson of Minnesota.

Chief Sahl will stand his final and eternal watch beside his beloved Elaine in Minneapolis.
