Ralph K. Peterson, 87 passed away August 22nd at Sunrise Senior Living of Weston surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of the late Ralph Howard and Fannie (Hakala) Peterson.
Ken, as he preferred to be called was born in Concord on May 17, 1925 and attended Concord schools graduating from Concord High School in 1943. The Peterson family was well known in Concord as longtime owners of Concord Clothing Co. in Concord Center.
Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Devens. Following his military service he entered Tufts University where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering.
He worked for General Radio in West Concord taking early retirement after 25 years. Ken started a second career as owner of Highlander Laundromat on Thoreau Street in Concord where he welcomed customers with a cup of coffee and the challenge of a cribbage game.
Ken enjoyed fishing and served as past president of the Musketaquid Sportsman's Club in West Concord. He was a very active man skiing all over the world, playing tennis, sailing in the Caribbean, connecting with a wide group of lifelong friends.
Survivors include his daughters Laurie Andrews and her husband Peter of Pepperell and Wendy Whitman of Fitchburg. His brother Wallace Peterson and his wife Gwen of Stuart, FL, Emmy his companion for almost 20 years and his granddaughters Stephanie B. Andrews of Weston, Brooke E. Andrews of Nashua and Rebecca F. Andrews of Pepperell. He was predeceased by his former wife Doris Osborn.
The family is deeply grateful to Jeff and Anna who faithfully cared for Ken at Sunrise Senior Living of Weston who provided all he needed to live out his last months with dignity.
