Richard "Dick" Crear, age 81, bravely succumbed to a courageous battle with cancer on May 18th, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 13, 1939 in Boston, MA, son of John and Constance (Amore) Crear of Billerica.
Dick will be sadly missed by everyone who had the fortunate opportunity to meet him. He touched us all with his sense of humor. The joy of his contagious laugh will always echo in the memory of all his dear friends and family.
He grew up in Boston and was a graduate of Billerica Memorial High School, class of 1959. He proudly served the Marine Corps with an honorable discharge in 1961. He was a twenty-year member of the Stow Lions Club and five-year President, Active member of the Athol Marine Corp League. Dick enjoyed doing programs like toys for tots. He was proudly bestowed Marine of the year in 2021.
Dick had a love for acrylic painting, writing poetry, dining out with friends and family, listening to music, riding his bike, and gardening.
Dick was preceded in death by his father John, mother Constance, wife Jean, brother John, sister Nancy, brother Matthew, and granddaughter Amanda. He is survived by his son Richard Jr.; stepdaughters; Lianne, Tracy, Michelle and stepson; Robert. brothers; James, David, Chris, and Brent. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dick for a period of visitation on Saturday, May 22 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm in the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap St., Concord. His funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial with U.S. Marine Military Honors in Brookside Cemetery, Stow.
Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in honor of Dick's service to his country in the United States Marines.
