Robert E. Schlier

February 20, 1924 — June 16, 2015

Robert E. Schlier PhD, age 91 of Leominster, formerly of Concord, died peacefully in his home on June 16, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline Dillingham Schlier.

Born in Hartford, CT on February 20, 1924 he was the son of the late Charles L. and Harriot Martindell Schlier.

A WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, Robert completed his doctoral work in Physics at Brown University, where he worked for a number of years as a professor before moving his family to Massachusetts to work at Avco (later Textron) Research Laboratory as a researcher in the developing field of lasers.

He lived in Concord, MA for 53 years and was an active participant and vestry member of Trinity Church, was involved in Boy Scout Troop #62, and was a founding member of Heritage Pool and Racquet Club.

He is survived by his children Janet L. Schlier of Plano, TX; Michael, D. Schlier of Hooper, UT; David S. Schlier of Westminster; Amy S. Marino of Duxbury; and Constance L. Kozelek of Spring Valley, NY. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

A family service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Concord.
