Roma Prentice Bard Benninghoven, age 98, of Concord, Masssachusetts, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 12, 2017. The daughter of James and Anna Prentice, Roma was born on February 23, 1919 in Bellingham, Washington and raised in Bellingham and San Diego, California. Roma graduated from Sweet Water High School in San Diego and moved to Hawaii. A fashion designer when she lived in Hawaii, she used her artistic talents in many creative projects throughout her life. She married George Morris Bard in 1947 and moved to Barrington, Illinois where she lived with her husband, 4 children, several dogs and assorted pets. Roma loved to read, garden, play tennis and entertain family and friends. She was also a member of the Barrington Play Readers and the Garden Club for many years. Roma is survived by her 3 devoted children, Deborah and her husband Chip Dewing of Carlisle MA, Jennifer Bard and her husband Walther van der Pol of Deventer, Netherlands and George Bard of Cambridge MA, as well as 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter, Mary Candace Bard and her third husband Edward Benninghoven. Roma moved to Massachusetts in 2000 after his death.
A memorial service for family is planned in October.
