Rosealie entered into eternal rest very peacefully on September 22 at Carleton-Willard Village, Bedford, MA where she had been a resident since 2002. She was 99 years old.
Rosealie was born in Sandwich, NH August 23, 1910. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ida (Lindstrom) Quimby of Center Sandwich, NH. She attended Sandwich NH Public Schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Plymouth Teacher’s College and her Master’s Degree in Education from North Eastern University in 1961. Her post-graduate work in Library Science was done at Boston University. Rosealie started her 47-year teaching career in 1930 and taught in various schools in New Hampshire until 1961 when she came to Concord, MA to live and teach third grade at the Concord Public Schools and later became an elementary school librarian. She retried in 1977.
Rosealie was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Savior, Bedford, MA. She was also a member for many years with the Concord Woman’s Club, Emerson Hospital Auxiliary, Concord Museum, and Concord Greene Social Activities Committee.
Rosealie is survived by her former sister-in-law, Edna Bickford, of Ctr. Sandwich, NH. She was a loving and wonderful friend for 37 years to May Stanton of Concord, and later to May’s daughter Rebekah and her husband, Claude Jacobs of Schenectady, NY. She will be forever missed by us.
Special thanks to Pastor Mark Oien, Ernest and Jeanette Weinschenk, and Donna MacLeod, Rosealie’s Lutheran Church family, who were so faithful in visiting her and seeing to her spiritual needs during her years at Carleton Willard. We feel our words are so inadequate to express our thanks to the Carleton-Willard staff who were so wonderful and dedicated in caring for Rosealie since she went to live there and more recently, Hospice of the North Shore who saw that she had every possible comfort to help her make the end of life transition.
Rosealie will be acknowledged and remembered on September 29 at the Carleton-Willard Village monthly Memorial Service.
